Ask Us: "Do you have advice for printing your own Wedding Invitations?"
Keep these factors in mind when thinking about printing your own Wedding Invitations or Programs.
1 - Your Printer - Many home printers are not able to handle heavier
weighed card stock. They may jam, smear, and waste both ink and paper (which can be costly). Check
with the manufacture of your printer to see if it can handle the card stock you're buying.
2 - Paper Quality - Remember, your wedding invitations are keepsakes for
generations to come. Most paper has acid that can discolor or even deteriorate that paper over time. Make sure
you select "Acid-Free" Paper or Card stock. Also, consider making invitations from Vellum paper which
is usually acid-free and gives a sleek, elegant look. Note: "Acid-free" paper and Vellum are more expensive and for
large numbers of invitation it may be more affordable to get professionally printed invitation.
3 - Your Time. Depending on how many invitations you need(including
reply cards, wedding registry information, direction cards, etc.), how detailed and artful the design is, and how
many people will be helping you it can take hours (if not days) to complete the construction on invitations.
Not to mention the time you will need to stuff and address them (remember, printed labels can be crocked, looks
informal, and takes away from the elegant look of invitations). A Bride's time becomes extremely
valuable 10-8 weeks prior to their wedding.
