Design and Other Terms you (and your
Event Designer) should understand.

With
the growing accessibility of wedding products in stores and the popularity of wedding magazines on news stands, many amateur
or even untrained planners have chosen to call themselves "Designers"
without acquiring any formal Design and Art training, techniques, skills, education, or industry knowledge.
So, how do differentiate them from the professionals? Here are some simple terms and facts that every qualified
"Event Designer" should know and/or demonstrate:
cou·ture (kū-tʊr', -tür'):
The business of designing, making, and selling high-end fashionable, custom-made
clothing for women. Dressmaker.
dé·cor or de·cor (dā'kôr', dā-kôr'):
A decorative style or scheme, as of a room. Decoration. de·sign·er (dĭ-zī'nər):
Used to reference someone who draws or in some way uses visual
cues to organize their work. di·rec·tress (dĭ-rĕk'trəss):
A Woman who directs. Directs the production of an event (ie: Wedding). Wedding
Directress insures that all the wedding participants (including vendors) and the event runs according to plan. plan·ner :
A
person who makes plans. stu·di·o
(stū'dē-ō):
An artist's workroom. theme (thēm):
A subject
of artistic representation. Primary topic, subject, or idea around which an advertising campaign, book, motion picture,
television show, recording, or the like is organized.
val·ue (văl'yū):
Value refers to the relative lightness or darkness of a certain area. Value can be used for
